Bitumen provides reliable protection against water and moisture

Solution dating back to the Sumerian age

Bitumen is a natural and environmentally acceptable waterproofing material that has been known and used in the construction of buildings and roads for thousands of years. It was already used by the Sumerians, Egyptians and Romans.

Bitumen production has been present in Slovenia since at least 1937, when bitumen was produced in Ljubljana and used for grouting cobblestones. This gave rise to the Industrija bitumenskih izdelkov factory in 1946, renamed Izolirka Ljubljana in 1951.
